These effective, hands-on materials will be used in small groups of Kindergarten students who need extra help with phonemic awareness, small motor skills, and handwriting. The materials requested all help students with pre-reading skills, such as alphabetic knowledge, rhyming, syllable recognition, letter sounds practice, or pre-writing skills, such as small motor skill muscle control (see counting center, tweezer centers and ice cream center), as well as letter formation practice on easily erasable boards. Struggling students that need a little extra individual help to catch up to average performing peers will be using these tools to help bridge developmental gaps. By giving these students a strong foundation, they have a much better chance at performing at grade level expectations in latter grades. These interesting materials will hopefully maintain the attention and add excitement to learning for these learners and give much needed additional practice in a hands-on manner. Children, especially your youngest and most fragile, learn best by play.
