I believe that creating a comfortable meeting area in my classroom will make the environment for the better in many ways. Gathering at the rug is more engaging, and more effective for whole group instruction and for classroom management as well. Students in kindergarten enjoy spending time on the floor reading, playing and learning. Also, rugs can serve as a noise-reducing accessory. It will absorb sounds to make my room a peaceful place. With that been said, I would like to provide my students with a safe and welcoming area where we can meet to socialize, have fun and work too. Last but not least, studies indicate that high-quality classroom environments help children feel safe, secure, and valued and that is my whole goal!
