Keep Them Safe!
Funded May 4, 2021WOW! We couldn't be more grateful for the project being funded! When we returned to in-person and had to keep our distance but at the same time be able to eat breakfast and lunch in our classrooms, no one was sure how to make it all happen. The desk guards were the perfect thing to help us out. They created a barrier and allowed for students to feel comfortable and safe while eating their morning breakfast and mid-day lunch. The barriers were tall enough and came around the sides in the perfect way.
The headphones were also amazing as each student had their own pair for listening to books each day. Many of my students at Glen Forest are english language learners and audio books are a favorite was to follow along with a text. We also utilized many online programs and the headphones made for a quiet classroom while each student worked on their own lessons at their own pace.
The desk barriers are still in use today while we continue to manage safety with spacing out students since covid is still a health concern in our community.”

This classroom project was brought to life by SONIC Drive-In and 4 other donors.Exploring Virginia's History
Funded May 9, 2021Thank you so very much for making my project happen last school year. Adding to the classroom library was a very special treat for my students at Glen Forest. The few who were able to return to in-person learning loved having a classroom which had books for them to read each day. The library wasn't used in the same way during Covid, so having access in our own classroom was vital to the students being able to read so many different stories of Virginia's History.
We strived to have independent reading time every school day and all my students loved to read. Adding to the library and we made sure they were kept in good condition for many classes to come. Many of the titles were used as part of lesson instructions and making the history of Virginia come alive for the students.”
