I want to give my students a space to explore and create. This center will allow my students to work on a STEAM project of their choice. They will have the opportunity to plan and problem solve to build life skills through play. I encourage a growth mindset with my students and emphasize for them to try hard things. This space will allow them to practice these skills in a no pressure, fun environment. The items I chose will give them the support in creating physics projects, engineering, art projects, shapes, math skills, social skills, and team building efforts. I can see how this space will allow my students to flourish in all areas. This space will be used daily in our play based learning rotations. Students will spend 20-30 minutes working with the bin or bins of their choice. They will be working on the following skills- innovation, creativity, experimentation, revision, collaboration, resiliency, confidence, and fine motor skills. These skills will help them with academic success as well as in their everyday life. They don’t always have the opportunity to practice and hone these skills at home. I want my students to be successful individuals and this is one space that will help them to thrive.
