My students bring me gifts each morning. I receive so many pictures, sculptures, cool things they find outside. They have so much to give the world with their creativity and imaginiation. Art also gives them the ability to tell their story, decompress, enrich the lives of others. Next year we are converting to a 4 day school week which will lengthen my class times. I would like my upper elementary to use that time to enter a choice based sketch book activity. These sketch book activities will include, zentangles, sketching, journaling, planning projects. It will give them the ability to reflect on their growth, set goals, and realize the mental health benefits of a life enriched by the arts.
