It is so important for students to be able to be organized in the classroom. Teaching organization skills to my students are teaching important lessons for school, as well as for life. Many of the drawers will be used to house center activities when working individually or with a group. Each drawer will be specifically labeled to ensure so the students can quickly and easily have everything at their fingertips and not search for materials. My plan is to have students rotate centers each week for literacy and math.
First graders need to feel a sense of responsibility.
Two of the drawer carts will be used for student mailboxes. All of their daily work will be placed into their labeled mail drawer. They will be asked to put their own papers away as well as empty them out to be placed in folders for taking home each day.
These materials will allow my students to become more independent and successful.
