My students will use these blocks in the ‘construction’ center of our choice-based classroom. Working with blocks supports students thinking in 3-dimensions, building structures and talking about them, sharing and taking turns, building spatial awareness, and developing motor skills and hand eye coordination. At the pre-school and kindergarten level, building with blocks scaffolds 3D design skills and the students move up through the grades. Older students can stretch their engineering muscles! All students who build with blocks are practicing divergent thinking and problem solving skills that serve them in all areas of their academic learning.
