My science classroom is built upon values, collaboration, and the use of various learning options to help students experience growth. Our classroom has a sense of intrigue and calming environment. I am trying to enhance the classroom to allow for a calm, yet inspiring and motivating atmosphere by providing varied light sources and visually appealing science objects that also encourage the learning that will take place. This year has been challenging in that I am teaching both Face-to-Face and Virtual students 6th-grade science students. When thinking of ways I can improve my student's learning opportunities, I would love to give them a chance to have smaller groups to explore the topics that we learn with the hands-on experience that they need to better understand the concepts. Many concepts in 6th grade are difficult because of the abstract concepts. Giving students a chance to see how things work, would provide the concrete examples they need while supporting the use of my student's needs hands-on. Due to our large class sizes, having a variety of tools to set up stations is imperative to give all students a unique and differentiated learning opportunity. Although my class size is about 150 students, my project is used with my team as well. We are a collaborative team that strives to meet the needs of all of our students so naturally, hands-on tools will be used amongst all three of our 6th-grade science teachers!
