  • Building Community With Tie Dye

    Funded Apr 3, 2025

On behalf of my students and myself, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you for your generosity in supporting our end-of-the-year tie-dye project. Your donations made it possible for my students to express themselves creatively, build lasting memories, and celebrate their hard work in a vibrant and meaningful way.

Your kindness and support remind us that learning goes beyond the classroom and that a strong community can make all the difference in a student's experience. We are incredibly grateful for your generosity and belief in our students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Farel

My students and I appreciate you all so much! We are so thrilled we get to do this project at the end of the year! We couldn't have done this without you!! Once again, thank you so much :) I will send some updates with pictures of the students using these supplies!”

  • Building Community with Plaster Casts

    Funded May 9, 2021

I want to thank you all so much for your generous and wonderful donations to my classroom! My students have been working really hard during our sculpture unit using all the supplies you so kindly donated money for. Cast and mold-making is not a one person job, the students have been working together so nicely to help each other out! Now more than ever building community and connections in classrooms is essential, this project wouldn't have been possible without your help.

Thank you again for supporting this project- you have made a tremendous impact in our classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Farel

  • Printmaking to Cultivate Peace

    Funded Oct 25, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donations!! I am extremely grateful and my students will be so excited to start working on this project in the next month! With these tools, my students will be able to experiment with a new medium and use their voice to stand up for something they are passionate about! Making meaningful work is so important in our classroom and these supplies will ensure that happens with our printmaking unit. Thank you all again for being a part of this mission, my students and I appreciate all of you!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Farel

I am requesting plaster, sandpaper and alginate for making molds, plaster for making casts, and sandpaper for smoothing them out! As part of the IB DP course, students must work in two to three media types including 3D/sculpture. I surveyed the class, giving them a few options of sculpture ideas we can do next year to meet this requirement. They agreed, making molds and life casting would be an ideal assignment. With the materials I am requesting, my students will create a life cast, and then add another component to the sculpture to connect it to their cohesive year two theme. This will empower students to make meaningful work, connect with each other, and share their stories. This project will allow each student to be independent, use their natural creativity to create unique works, and communicate something about themselves. They will be asked to pay attention to the distinction between thoughts and things, subjects and objects. We will also talk about physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development and growth as humans. We will reflect on changes that have been made in the last four years of high school - the milestones, hardships, etc. This project will create community, articulate subjectiveness, and network ideas.
