Students learn and retain more when they are interested in the content, and it is relevant to them. Finding books at a K to 2nd grade reading level that interest middle school students are difficult to find. The books I have chosen for this project are from a list of topics my students came up with that they find interesting. My students with special needs want to feel the books they read are mature enough for them. The books that are usually written at the 1st and second grade level are geared towards 6 to 9 year old children. My middle school students want to be able to read books that are not "for little kids". Please help me build a classroom library that my students can be proud of.
