  • Back Up Learning With a Backpack Part 2

    Funded May 8, 2024

Oh my goodness! I was able to pass out these backpacks for meet and greet! They were absolutely thrilled! They were exploring the classroom with the backpacks on their back.

It really is wonderful to see the genuine excitement on their little faces. They are so appreciative to be receiving brand new backpacks, that they get to keep, loaded full of beautiful resources to practice their learning at home. They will be begging their grown ups to work with them.

    This completely made my day.

Your kind and generous act is increasing student achievement while making learning fun!

Thank you for valuing our youngest learners!"”

  • Made in the Shade

    Funded May 7, 2024

After we decorated our visors, we wore them with our shades to field day. My friends kept the visors on for the duration of field day, even for the inside activities! However, the sunglasses were on and off and lost and found!

When they saw the materials to decorate their visors, they couldn't wait to start! However, they had to wait until they picked their sunglasses first!

For the rest of the school year, some of my students brought back their visors and sunglasses or visors or sunglasses and wore them for outside time.”

  • A Whaley Good Bubble Machine

    Funded Mar 14, 2024

Thank you so much again for your generosity! When I pulled out the whale bubble machines, all eyes were on me with curiosity. They had no idea what was coming out of the box. I let them take turns making bubbles so they know how to use them. They could not wait to get theirs!

    Then, we went outside!!!

Bubble day was fantastic! My class had so much fun running behind the bubbles. With only a few more weeks left in school, I will be able to bring out the whale bubble machines a few more times before the school year is over. My little friends love these machines! They will be able to enjoy them at school and they at home this summer! Thank you so much for doing this for my friends!”

  • Carried Away With Learning

    Funded Mar 14, 2024

My students practice recognizing and writing their ABCs, 123s, colors, and shapes with this fun-filled book of early learning. The activities help my students work on these fundamental concepts at home and school.

My students really enjoy the 100 stickers included in the book. Since it comes with a wipe-clean pen, they can work on these activities over and over again in our writing area during center time. They use the backpacks to take-along the workbooks everywhere.

The workbooks educate, entertain, and delight my students and foster a lifelong love of reading and learning. It also supports parent-and-child interactions to help build memories that last a lifetime. Thank you for allowing me to give my students' families this opportunity.”

  • Planting With Lola

    Funded Apr 10, 2024

We began our sand study last week and during part of the sand study, we talk about soil and planting. I read the book to my students and then they planted their own terrariums. I usually read to my students at least twice a day. One book pertains to our study and the other books are just for fun. There is a copy of the book in our reading area so my students can read the story at home and school. Many showed their parents their books at pick up. They could not contain their excitement! Especially when they said they planted their own garden like Lola!”

  • Let's Watch It Grow

    Funded Mar 11, 2024

After we finished our insect study, we started sand. The sand study also discusses soil. So we planted the Very Hungry Caterpillar garden to end the insect study and introduce the sand study. When they first saw the materials, they were very excited. I worked with four children at a time. The other children were very eager to start their turn as gardeners! The next step is to watch their garden grow. Once the plants have sprouted, they will be able to take them home. They will also have left over seeds so they can plant more in the future.”

  • Growing and Changing Like the Very Hungry Caterpillar

    Funded Mar 14, 2024

With these books I reinforce the Concept of Print with my students. At the ages of three and four the gain an awareness of 'how print works'. The awareness includes the what books, print, and written language are, and how they function. These understandings allow the reading process to take place and the understanding that print conveys a message.

I have daily read alouds at least twice a day in my classroom. Sometimes I read a book from our classroom or I find the book on the internet, mute the reader and read the book to my students. There is also a reading corner in my classroom with books that they have received and books I have already read to them.

All of them enjoyed the book and loved that it came with their very own very hungry caterpillar that they use to pretend to eat what the caterpillar in the book eats.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. McNeil

My students will be receiving the learning kit at the end of the school year to help them continue to learn in the summer. The backpack has everything children need to continue learning during the summer. It includes 3 months of developmentally appropriate activities they can complete with their parents. The activities reinforce the basic skills preschoolers need to succeed—from counting to letter recognition. Plus, the vinyl pack includes materials needed to complete the activities from the calendar—like colorful bears to sort and count, a ball for motor activities, and a language-building book of nursery rhymes.
