An iPad to Support Students in the Math Classroom!

Thank you so much for the ipad for my students. They were so excited to have a classroom device to work on homework assignments, response to class discussion and submit work using technology. My students have been able to use the ipads weekly during class as they work in groups sharing math ideas by using the ipad to show their work as well as using online manipulatives when working through challenging abstract algebra concepts.

It is exciting that there are many online math sites that they have access to now to help them understand certain concepts as well use calculator when needed. They are able to now use desmos (math site) and participate with each other in class while investigating math topics. As a math special education teacher, it helps me to modify lessons by incorporating the ipad to meet students where they are. The ipad has allowed my students of all needs to explore math topics in a more conceptual way and not so much procedural(manipulatives online, exploring math topics, calculator etc).

Many of my students are visual and kinesthetic learners, so using this ipad provides them with that accessibility. I have a student that struggles with writing for long periods of time so with the use of the ipad they are able to use speech-to-text to help him take notes on his math module book as a pdf file. This helps him focus more on the math part of the class and not so much on the writing. He has appreciated the use of it and looks forward to all the time.”
