Since my students come from so many diverse backgrounds and have different learning needs, I want to make my classroom accessible to everyone. I want to, for instance, accommodate those that might need flexible seating to focus. My goal with color tones (blue, gray, black) is to create a calming, sensory friendly classroom students can relax in so their main focus can be learning. With fun stem items available in my classroom, I hope students will use hands on items to encourage imagination, peer play, and active learning. By having a classroom library available to students, I hope to encourage literacy and foster a love of books. My school is transitioning to using Wit and Wisdom so having all the books available as well as other 2nd grade level books (narrative, nonfiction, graphic, etc.) will be a great start in doing just that.
