We have requested items to support academic and social emotional progress within our community. The variety of books we've chosen will give our students the opportunity to see the diversity of their experiences and cultures reflected more fully in our community room, and will serve as a jumping off point for conversations about things that may be on their mind as they navigate adolescence. The storage tools will keep our community space feeling welcoming and comfortable in the new year. And the sensory toys, puzzles, and movement toys (remember Skip-Its!?) will help our students take a break, recenter, and then return to their academic classes. The 3-D coloring puzzles were a hit when we mailed one to each of our students mid-year, and our students have specifically requested more of them for our community space.
