Research has shown students learn the most when they are engaged in purposeful play in early childhood. Students also need the opportunity to have access to SEL (Social Emotional Learning tools to help regulate their bodies). Students also learn best when they have the option for flexible seating within the classroom. As many of you know, with COVID, we have had a shift in our classrooms. Anything within our classroom has to be cleaned easily and frequently. The resources I am asking for today are to help ALL students as they navigate their first year in school! I want every child to have the opprtunity to play with a kitchen and grocery store so they have the chance for social play and interactions with their peers. This will give them the skills to be succesful not just in school, but in life by teaching them how to work together through collaboration. My students need visuals timers to help them regulate themselves since they are unable to read. I want them to have the opportunity to move their bodies while they are learning. The materials listed will help my students to have a cozy corner (tent), to regulate their bodies, educational games, and a play kitchen and grocery store for them to use their imagination, while also keeping them safe through the cleaning procedures associated with COVID. Thank you for taking the time to read about my class project, please know that ANY donation is greatly appreciated!
