The Eagle Care Room is a first of it's kind space for students to come and de-stress, relax, learn self care techniques, and hopefully, learn how to keep themselves grounded. Our community has been hit hard by students completing suicide, in a recent school year we lost five students, and our student body has had enough. A group of students went to teachers, then administrators, then the school board, all to get mental health resources at the school level. These students didn't stop there, however, they met with state legislators to secure funding for a wellness room and a family therapist to be permanently housed at our high school. All of the supplies that we were supposed to have for this incredible space were disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. These supplies will ensure that our students have not just the physical space to de-stress, but also the tools they will need to self-soothe and relax. We practice origami folding, journal writing, drawing, and much much more inn our wellness space.
