Providing high quality books for student choice reads is very important as students move from "learning to read" to "reading to learn". These high interest books capture their attention and encourage the students to work at a higher level then they may otherwise try. Struggling readers become strong readers when they are provided high interest books to practice their skills. These are also books that many children want to read and talk about, which encourages them to "act like readers"-- readers talk about what they are reading! While we did have some of these titles in our library, most have been loved to pieces. These are high demand items that many reluctant readers gravitate toward, but we have one copy at the most . By providing these books, you provide our students the opportunity to grow as readers.
