  • Cultivating Classroom Community

    Funded Jun 17, 2021

My students and I cannot thank you enough for the resources. Currently, the posters have helped motivate my students as soon as they walk through the door. They are hung all around the classrooms so that they. know they are surrounded by love and empathy.

As soon as my students saw the classroom, their faces lit up. The colors, the posters, the prizes, they knew that once they entered into this classroom, they were going to be cared for. Especially with this pandemic right now, even though it just seems like decorations, they provided a feeling; the feeling that I wanted for them because of the chaos in the world right now.

I cannot say thank you enough for being able to provide my class something so valuable. Your gifts and contributions continue to help my students today and every day. I hope you had a wonderful holiday and I cannot wait to update you on my students' progress.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Dang

To begin, the motivational posters will continue to show my students the importance of having a growth mindset and set up classroom expectations. Within the class, cultivating a warm and welcoming environment will make a difference in whether the student wants to learn or not. By inviting them in and continuing to show them that mistakes are teachers, they will continue to be engaged in the class. The classroom I have created over bitmoji is a place my students enjoy visiting, as they feel they are able to feel it is a universal design for learning. Every student that comes into my class, bitmoji or in person, I want them to feel they have an empathetic and caring place where they know they can push themselves to succeed each and every day. Although the posters seem small, seeing little inspirational quotes can quickly change a mindset. However, not only is motivating important but so is giving students tips on how to continue to grow in their writing. Both posters will help them understand the nuances of the English language and continue building on their paragraph and literacy skills. Seeing that students are beginning to build their essay skills in middle school, these posters are dire to help students refresh their memory and help visual learners piece information together. In my special day class, many of my students struggle with writing a paragraph. Although we write consistently each day, having visuals and posters to remind them I have noticed, helps with their memory. In my class I want students to feel they are being given equal and equitable opportunities to grow in their learning. Providing posters with little tips such as these can truly make a difference in their learning.
