My students and I will read this coming-of-age novel together in class. For those who are choosing to learn virtually, classes will be recorded via Zoom and students may access those classes through the online learning management system Canvas. By working together as a group, students who struggle with comprehension will have a better understanding.
Online and classroom discussions will talk about death, art, family relationships, and gender roles. Students will have weekly writing assignments and a research project to finish at the completion of the novel.
I chose this novel because I believe my students will relate to the protagonist, Delores Price. I believe the story will sustain their interest and they will enjoy reading it.
