The Power of Projects: Unlocking History through Project-Based Building
Funded Jan 12, 2025We are overwhelmed with gratitude for your support. Thanks to your kindness, my 5th graders have greater access to supplies to bring history to life through our hands-on build projects. Your generosity has provided our classroom with materials that allow students to create, design, and construct projects that connect directly to their American History curriculum.
Engaging in these projects has helped students develop a deeper understanding of key historical events and figures. They are currently creating artifacts and symbols for their Westward Expansion Travel Company Projects, and later in the year, they will be making a museum connecting changes to our country from the Civil War to the Civil Rights Movement. These hands-on experiences help them grasp complex concepts meaningfully. The excitement and enthusiasm in our classroom have been truly inspiring, and it is all because of your generosity.
Your donation has enriched our students' learning experiences and fostered creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Watching students work together to bring history to life has been an incredible experience, and it would not have been possible without your support.
On behalf of my students, I thank you for believing in our classroom and investing in our future historians, innovators, and leaders. Your kindness has made a lasting impact, and we are truly grateful.”

Ms. Peeler
Blueprint Brilliance: Crafting Success through Project-Based Building
Funded Jan 30, 2024We recently finished the persuasive writing portion of our Tour Company projects, where students try to convince teachers, other students, and parents to use their travel company to go west during the time of Westward Expansion. We looked at battles and transportation of that time, Native American tribes, motivations for moving west, trails, geography, and land acquisitions. Every year, the students' favorite part of the project is the final step, building artifacts that an archeologist would find or symbols that represent their travel company.
As our new supplies trickled in, students watched with anticipation as I unpacked and organized their new building materials. They are always excited about the build portions of our history projects, but with the new materials in the room, the excitement was tenfold.
This year, some artifacts students made included historically accurate wagons, wheels, axles, bison, gold nuggets, and arrows. It was by far the most successful build project my students have done, and I've had versions of this project for years.
Thank you so much for helping bring American history to life!”

Ms. Peeler
Let's Learn Outdoors!
Funded Apr 1, 2021Thank you so much for your donation towards our camping stools! As we have transitioned from virtual to in-person learning, it was my goal to have the students spend as much time in an "outdoor classroom" as possible. While we have plenty of outdoor space at our school, we do not have a lot of outdoor seating.
These camping stools were all that I imagined and more! They are lightweight and easy to transport outside to our "outdoor classroom" and back inside to be stored. They've also allowed flexibility in where we set up our class. Out of all the places where we've brought our camping stools, the students' favorite spot is a grassy field by the woods. There we have reading, discussions, and collaborative group work. In addition, the fresh air and vitamin D have helped our spirits and overall mental health.
Again, thank you so much for supporting our efforts to get our students learning outdoors!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Peeler
