The girls read many stories and created a well rounded library of book requests about inspiring characters who struggle and overcome or adapt to their disabilities. They have found a variety of books featuring anxiety, ADHD, selective mutism, physical disabilities, dyslexia, autism and many more. Their goal is to purchase a full library of well rounded books to donate to each self contained special education classroom in their local elementary schools. They'd share the titles with teachers in the building so they can borrow the books for read-aloud. They believe this project will help students believe in their potential, help their peers build empathy and understanding and most of all spark a joy in reading. The books have three different themes- 1) Books with main characters who have disabilities but the story isn't about their struggles 2) Books about characters with disabilities that overcome a challenge and embrace their differences 3) Books that build empathy and understanding of people who have differences
