Learning different culture is always fun and inspiring for my students! Hands-on projects are the most memorable ones for students, not only they learn the new language and culture from the projects, the entire process makes the learning full of creativity and meaningful. With all the new regulations, my students are not longer be able to share classroom items to complete their language and culture immersion projects. I would like to use the calligraphy brushes to introduce Chinese calligraphy writing and Chinese painting to my students. I will also use the popsicle sticks for each student to create an old fashion Chinese scroll, mimicking bamboo scroll book. During outdoor mask breaks, my students will be able to kick jianzi, a Chinese shuttlecock, to further the culture immersion.
Creating an old fashion Chinese scroll with popsicle sticks, writing with calligraphy brush, will definitely enhance my students engagement and learning, and kicking jianzi during mask breaks will make these breaks fun!
The products I have selected will ensure each student have their own calligraphy brush, writing scroll materials, and jianzi. When the students master a new sentence in Chinese Mandarin, I will encourage them to write it down on their own popsicle scroll book. I can't wait to see them write all the new sentences they have been learning there! During mask breaks, they can have lots of fun kicking jianzi and counting in Chinese numbers. I know a fun and active mask break will energize students for their learning. These activities include independent works and active moments, they will definitely enhance my students' learning, and broaden their cultural knowledge.
