Being a third grader is hard enough in a regular school year. Being a third grader who has been affected by a global pandemic is even harder. Third grade is the first year that we introduce standardized testing to students, and this year is no different. Most of my students are coming from backgrounds that aren't rooted in English. This makes reading and math even more difficult for them, as it is not written in their native language. My goal is to help my students become better readers, comprehenders of texts, and mathematicians. With this project they are able to work colloboratively with one another and get immediate feedback about their work. These cards have reading comprehension questions on them and they get immediate feedback from the pens as to whether their answer is correct or not. They will also use these cards during math to practice skills that have been previously taught. These cards will provide for a small group rotation in my classroom that students can work on with colloborative groups while I am working with other small groups in reading and math.
