Expanding the Minds of 6th Graders Through Technology
Funded Jun 14, 2024In today's digital world, using technology in the classroom is very important for getting students interested and helping them learn better. As a teacher, I always try to keep up with the latest educational technology and find new ways to inspire and support my students.
I have found that Apple offers many educational tools, apps, and platforms made just for teachers and students. Through this, I have found and used different tools like GarageBand, Clips, Swift Playgrounds, and Freeform. These tools help me create fun digital content, design multimedia projects, and even teach coding to young learners. By using these cool teaching tools, I have seen my students become more engaged, think critically, and show more excitement for learning.
Technology can make learning experiences more personal, meeting the unique needs and interests of each student. Ultimately, technology has taught me how to use it to tailor my teaching. Not only does it improve traditional teaching methods but also encourages creativity and teamwork among students.
With Apple tools like Keynote, iMovie, and Pages, my students can share their ideas in multimedia formats, create amazing presentations, and work together on projects easily. Using technology has opened up opportunities for my students to take part in meaningful and real learning experiences, getting them ready for a future where digital skills are very important.”

Funded Jan 29, 2022Nowadays, technology forms a big part in students' lives especially when they have tablets, video games or cell phones at home. Implementing this new resource can definitely increase students' engagement in school. Technology provides students with easy-to-access information, accelerated learning, and fun opportunities to practice what they learn. It enables students to explore new subjects and deepen their understanding of difficult concepts. Also, the use of technology inside and outside the classroom provides students with 21st-century technical skills necessary for future occupations.
Through technology I can create lessons based on student interests and strengths. An added benefit is that students can learn at their own pace. When they need to review class material to get a better understanding of essential concepts, students can review videos or do practice lessons on the iPad. The data generated through these online activities enables me to see which students struggled with certain subjects and offer additional assistance and support.
When my students saw the iPads delivered to my classroom, there was a big smile on their faces. They first thought they were for me but once I told them it was an extra resource for them, they were excited. My students are using the iPads to get extra support in reading, phonics, spelling and math. Through engaging apps on the iPad they are more engaged and increase their understanding by working at their own pace. Even though I use it mostly with my struggling students or ELs, I am also planning on allowing my others students to explore the iPad by completing challenging lessons.”

Funded Apr 22, 2021With our current pandemic teaching remotely was not only challenging for students but teachers as well. Most of my students had no experience using chromebooks or any digital learning tools. Not alone, not all teachers or parents are tech savvy which made it difficult to provide support. Having two monitors is incredibly helpful for teaching because I can use my second monitor to display my lesson plans and weekly schedule. I also sometimes use it to keep the video of my student's faces open while sharing a screen. This makes it easy to see student expressions and understand whether they understand or not. Our district was not prepared for digital learning at all which made it difficult on us to find alternative to provide quality instruction to our students. Having this second monitor has helped make my remote teaching work better and as we move into a hybrid model, it will continue to be very helpful, especially since we're still fully remote on Wednesdays. With my second screen I can now multitask and monitor my students during class. There were times in which I was sharing my screen and couldn't see if my students were raising their hand or needed assistance. Things are better with the second screen and have less technical difficulties. Once again thank you for your donation.”
