  • North Brookfield Digital Arts Project

    Funded Nov 29, 2023

Over the last several weeks our students have really taken to their new Wacom drawing tablets. These students have used these tablets to create several pieces of digital art, from portraits to movie posters. Students have even had a chance to practice doing some digital illustration with their tablets. We will be building upon these skills later this semester as students move into frame by frame digital animation. We are particularly excited about this opportunity, as hand-drawn animation is nearly impossible without the use of tablets. Students will be working on them all of the fourth quarter and will be submitting a hand-drawn animation as their final in Animation and Video this year.

I would once again like to thank all those who donated to this project. Not only does this new technology offer students the opportunity to create new art forms, it also bolsters their creativity and effort when they know they are being invested in.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Martinez

  • Technology for the Arts

    Funded May 5, 2021

I would like to again thank you all for the thoughtful donations that led to North Brookfield Elementary School Arts Department's new set of resources for digital arts learning.

With these resources students will be able to engage in new types of learning and create art in new media. The first exploration into using the resources for creating digital artwork will be the creation of short animated films created by teams of 6th graders. We will be starting the project soon and cannot wait to eventually share our work with the school community. At this moment we are preparing for and brainstorming other ways we can best utilize our new resources as well.

Again, thank you for all you have done for our art department and our school.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Martinez

This classroom project was brought to life by SONIC Drive-In and 32 other donors.
The arts department at our elementary school is looking to acquire 12 iPads and the necessary accessories in order to introduce technology into the elementary visual art and music curricula. These iPads would be used in conjunction with free applications to provide students with a greater variety of learning opportunities and experiences. Such opportunities include the use of GarageBand, photography applications, animation applications, and interactive versions of old tools such as color wheels and musical scales. Our hope is that with this new technology we can grant students greater access and investment into the visual art and music curricula.
