These books will help me create a print-rich independent reading classroom for my second graders. Having a print-rich environment is important for developing children’s language skills, because they discover that there is another way to communicate—through print. They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will help my students increase their reading stamina. My students are reading levels have increased since the beginning of the school year. I want our classroom library to be eclectic and kid friendly. I want every student to be able to choose books that will fuel their fire for reading independently. This project will assist me in enhancing their independent reading skills and prepare them for third grade literature.
