As my class returns to in-person learning, I would like to limit the number of classroom materials that are touched by different students each day. I am thinking of items such as crayons, markers, scissors, magnifiers, glue and other small art materials. In addition, I think of separating popular toys into smaller amounts (divide the legos into several smaller containers). To maintain this type of social distancing, I will organize personal storage containers for each child, in different colors. Their bins and caddies will include a variety of writing and art materials, a changeable selection of books and some additional color-coordinated small toys. By doing this, my students will be exposed to a greater variety of materials but still maintain Covid-19 safety practices.
