  • Cultural Awareness and Sports

    Funded Jan 21, 2025

My students are challenged at times about reading to themselves or reading aloud. These books gives them the opportunity to focus better. Also, having a book that they can call there own means the world to us all.

Teaching my students how to break words down so that they can pronounce the words without assistance helps build confidence within. My students who struggle more than others have been excited more about the new books. I have been so overwhelmed by seeing there progress in reading class.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Patterson

  • Learning is Reading

    Funded Aug 15, 2024

My class has been able to explore new books and have a new addition to our classroom library. The boys are able to connect with sports more and new ways to practice and condition better. The girls have new role models to look up to and understand their skills and success for life. I am able to share different topics with them about everyday living and past experiences. I am also able to refocus by reading other stories that teachers have share to enhance my learning experience and life skills for growth.”

  • Diversity at its Best!

    Funded Jan 25, 2024

Your donations made it possible for my students to explore new books and how the stories changed their lives. Most of the new books students had heard about them but never seen them in person. The sports books helped the young boys to see them in a different way. Knowing that they can be anything that they want if they apply themselves. For the young ladies supporting the dreams they had a little girl was exciting to seen in a book. I am overwhelmed to share one of my childhood favorites with them.”

  • Snack Um

    Funded Aug 15, 2023

As we embark upon this school year we become nervous and anxious about our classes and the expectations for us to learn.

Our teacher provides us with snacks to help us remain healthy and calm throughout the day. We are also rewarded for work completion and participation. Us having to work on computers for almost every class can make you tired and lazy so your donations help us to be refueled again.

We truly appreciate your help and support for our classrooms this year for Snack-um's. We would love you all.”

Several of the books I chose will allow the students to focus on black and brown environments as well as culturally diverse students. Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Dog Man are in Spanish. Many of my students are reading below their grade level. These books will encourage and enhance their ability to read and increase comprehension skills. Many of my students are from diverse backgrounds and have been out of school for over a year, it has hindered their reading skills. Several of them fell behind in their daily reading. These books will allow them to increase their reading skills and excel in fluency.
