Building GEO NEXT’S PBIS Incentive Store
Funded Jul 20, 2021As we near the end of yet another school year, the access to technology has allowed us to ease up stress a bunch! In this new age, totally everything is digitized. The students are now required to complete all standardized assessments digitally, and, in turn, students are required to become accustomed to the specs of tech. Students are allowed to create digital platforms for their lessons through slides, PowerPoints, etc. and are able to share their learning platform across the board. They are able to create personalized notes and explore various tools to build responses and knowledge to material.
Many students come from backgrounds that are limited to maybe one household device that may be a desktop or even no device at all. This project was a little different because it was used as a store of need and incentives to reward deserving students with their own piece of technology to use outside of the classroom. Students are extremely excited to be able to be to able to show their hard work and extend their learning by earning portable devices.
With a class full, we were only able to secure one state of the art device. The students often compete over who is able to use the Mac to complete our class lessons on our big screen. It challenges the students to complete well thought presentations to deliver to their peers and educate us on how they were able to accomplish the tasks while mastering the objectives. Though we only secured one class Mac, the students are able to earn to extend their learning by selecting a portable Fire device.
We are very grateful to have been blessed and look forward to the opportunity to grow even further!”

Many students come from backgrounds that are limited to maybe one household device that may be a desktop or even no device at all. Students are extremely excited to be able to work hands on with apple products and explore the world of endless possibilities in the cloud. They are more excited to have learned the fact that many of their handheld devices are transformed by the Mac.

Funded May 4, 2021When I informed my students that we were FULLY FUNDED, they did not understand at first. So I shared the project idea with them and reviewed all the materials and the first thing they said was, "WOW, people who barely knew us or seen us before helped US for OUR classroom?" And of course I said YES. This was one of the things they were most excited about, strangers helping their teacher to help them.
I started at a school that was freshly built with zero resources and had to wait until payday to purchase small things so that the students and I can have easy access to. But, of course, it was difficult. I've showed them different ways to work smarter, not harder and allowing them the privilege to utilize the tech of today for more more purposes than "social media." The students have become advanced critical thinkers and creative thinkers. They have easy access to these materials to bring different texts to life through images, creative writing strategies, and more. They absolutely love to draw! I found it crazy that many of them never saw or knew how to use a dictionary/thesaurus, so these resources indeed widened their perspective.
You have truly helped in more ways than you know and we are grateful!”
