My 8th graders are wonderfully diverse! We are a Title 1 school with a large majority of students who cannot afford to buy their own lunches. My students call our school the "ghetto" school even though it is far from that. They feel that way because the building is so old and the supplies so out of date that it is hard to take pride. My students are dreamers that talk about a way "outta here".
