Having the appropriate materials within the Montessori environment allows children to engage with their learning in the way that best suits them. The Montessori work rug serves as alternative seating. It gives students the option to work on the floor anywhere in the room and in any physical position. The wooden and woven baskets serve as the method for storing work materials from manipulatives and papers to art supplies and books. Baskets and trays prove more accessible for students and help keep things organized. As a new teacher, I aim to provide an environment for my students as close to authentic Montessori practices as possible. Having the appropriate essential storage and work materials ensures the classroom environment gets off to a positive start.
