These sensory items will be used in the sensory room and in the classroom during lessons. They will help students with anxiety by calming them down. By using these items, students' focus will be increased and their behaviors will be self-regulated.
Having these items available to students in the sensory room and in the classroom will help them calm down and be better prepared to focus on their schoolwork.
By getting to explore with the manipulatives in the sensory room, students have a way to express themselves creatively. The benefits of these items include students becoming more aware of their senses and surroundings to learn to interact with the world.
Not only will the resources be used for sensory issues, but will also be used academically as well. The Play-Doh will be used to model the alphabet by making uppercase and lowercase letters. The kinetic sand will be used for students to trace letters and practice their sight words and math facts. The kinetic sand and activity table will also be used with younger students as a treasure hunt activity finding objects that begin with certain letters. The Lego and Lego construction table will be used for students to explore math concepts such as addition, subtraction, skip counting, and more.
