  • Wobble Our Way To Success!

    Funded Mar 1, 2022

Thank you for continuing to support my classroom. This is my second successful project with donors choose and I am so thankful to those who have supported my students. The wobble chairs have been a huge success in my classroom. I work intensively in small group hitting skills that students are lacking. It's nice that while I am pushing these students to be successful in their academics, their brain is stimulated in order to work successfully. My student engagement has increased tremendously. This has allowed us to make great gains in their academic growth! We are certainly wobbling our way to success!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wamsley

  • Bring LEGO-Robotics to GWES

    Funded May 7, 2021

I cannot thank you all enough for allowing me the opportunity of bringing LEGO robotics to GWES students. Students are so excited about this afterschool opportunity and will learn so many skills from coding to STEAM.

Unfortunately due to the spike of COVID numbers in our area I have been told I cannot host a meeting yet but we are hopeful that I can start up after the new year. Students and parents are checking in daily anxiously awaiting the green light to this program.

As it stands right now My club is full with the amount of students that have expressed interest in joining LEGO robotics. I know that when the day comes and we are able to begin LEGO robotics it will be like Christmas morning getting to use out new materials. While living in an area with a low SES there are few extracurricular activities for students to participate in. I am so thankful to you all to be able to afford this opportunity to the students in my hometown!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wamsley

These kits will allow us to start a LEGO robotics program at our school. The plan is to have an after school program for kids in varying grades to participate in the building and coding of LEGO robotics. This fun and engaging program can foster relationships between parents, teachers, and students all while learning STEAM skills. This kit has 35 lessons included. Lesson plans are designed to build students’ confidence to define problems, ask questions, and design their own solutions. The lessons come in a range of challenge levels and cover science, engineering, maker, and computational thinking.
