Kindergarten Books for Social Skills and Springtime!

Thank you so much to everyone for your kind and generous donations! Last school year, I was a brand-new teacher running an online kindergarten classroom out of my living room with few available resources. Thanks to the books I was able to purchase with your donations, I was able to build science/reading units around springtime, the life cycles of butterflies & plants, and the changes we see in our weather/climate during the months of March, April and May. My students loved the read-alouds and everyone learned so much about the natural world around them.

Not only did you provide a welcome boost to the last few months of last school year, you have also provided resources for my continuing teaching career. I am now teaching an in-person kindergarten class in a new district and I have already taught a weeks-long social skills unit built around my "Little Spot of Emotion" box set of books, purchased with funds from your donations. As a class, we learned in-depth about emotions like sadness, anger and anxiety, learned to notice when those emotions were out of control, and practiced ways to calm ourselves down. The unit was a smashing success and a wonderful way to start our new school year. Come March/April, I will be pulling out my springtime books to use again with my new class.
