A motto in our classroom is "I can do hard things." It is no secret that this year has been very hard for students. Due to COVID, students do not have the ability to move freely amidst the classroom or sit in places that are most beneficial to them, and it is draining to sit in a chair for essentially 8 straight hours. But never fear! Because I have a plan! With your support, I can provide my students with a seating option that will allow them to move, fidget, and wiggle while they learn. Since each child learns differently, some will benefit from moving their body more than others - hence seating options that wobble (wobble stool, exercise ball), and some that prefer an actual chair, but wouldn't mind a bit of flare (wobble cushion, resistance band). As the project is completed, students will have the opportunity to put their name on a "waitlist" for a seating option they would like to try, and when it is time to switch, students preferences will be kept in mind. In a world without COVID in the future, students would be able to freely choose which seating arrangements they use for the day, without restrictions or guidelines. Want a wobble stool today but a exercise ball tomorrow? Great! Have at it!! The possibilities are truly endless.
