  • Let's Get Printing!

    Funded Aug 24, 2014

The addition of our classroom printer has been amazing! Having the ability to print, especially in color, has brought the students' projects to life.

The printer has allowed us to print acrostic poems, student labels for our Heritage Day celebration, flags for our heritage dolls as well as Heritage Day luncheon labels and so much more!

Having easy access to a printer I can quickly and easily print out necessary charts, graphs, poems and other needed materials as well.

We look forward to many more opportunities to use our classroom printer and are thankful to the many donors that made it possible.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Nelson

  • Here's to Good Health!

    Funded Apr 7, 2012

The students had a blast using the new, active play equipment! The partner parachute kit really developed their teamwork skills by working on timing, pace and control. In addition, the beanbags provided practice with hand-eye coordination between pairs of students. They practiced basic tossing techniques as well as catching with two hands. Finally, the "Fun to Move" skill building kits allowed several partner groups to improve their gross motor skill development. Students were able to practice jumping, balancing and flexibility. The students enjoyed all of the challenging activities these materials provided. Thanks again for supporting our classroom project!”

  • Healthy Habits Begin Today

    Funded Apr 6, 2012

Thank you again for the wonderful classroom materials. The students learned so much about nutrition and the importance of eating healthy. In the morning the students would come to class eager to tell me what they had for breakfast. They would share how many servings they had and from which food groups. By learning more about healthy eating the students really made a big effort to eat well before our state testing. They knew that in order to do their best they had to start the day off right by choosing the right foods for the brainpower they needed during testing. The best part was the students continued to eat breakfast in the morning, brought healthier snacks to school and encouraged their parents to make healthier meals at home. The nutrition materials were just what the students needed to begin a healthier lifestyle for now and into their future. The students and I truly appreciate your generous support on our classroom project!”

  • Better Together!

    Funded Apr 13, 2012

The students love using their new writing materials! These wonderful, new resources have been the perfect way for students to think about their own thoughts and ideas, pair up with a partner and talk about those ideas and share those experiences through writing. The students have improved in their writing because of the conversations that are happening between students in the classroom. Making meaningful connections and collaborating with their classmates has helped to improve the content of their writing. Thanks again for supporting our classroom project. The students and I truly appreciate it! ”

    Funded Apr 4, 2012

Thank you again for your generous donation to support our class. The Math materials are such a wonderful addition to our classroom resources. They are great for any student at any level in Math. These materials not only provided hands-on learning opportunities but developed confidence in all of my students. Students worked together and developed strategies to solve Math problems. The materials also created a sense of teamwork and collaboration. Students worked together in a fun and meaningful way. The students and I thank you again for the amazing Math materials! ”

  • Creating the Next Masterpiece!

    Funded Apr 19, 2012

Thank you so much for the wonderful books on famous artists. The students have enjoyed hearing about the artists' lives and have been inspired by their techniques. After reading about Vincent Van Gogh's "Sunflowers" the students were excited to replicate this piece. We spent several afternoons working on this project and little by little my budding artists were emerging with brilliant works of art. We had so much fun that our next project was focused on Henri Matisse. We combined our Language Arts unit, "Let's Create", with Henri Matisse to create our own version of a silhouette dancer. We also created an artwork that was inspired by Pablo Picasso. The students recreated Picasso's piece, "Hands Holding Flowers" to give to their mothers on Mother's Day. Reading the books and understanding the lives of the artists made them truly appreciate the hard work and dedication of each artist. Thanks again for keeping Art alive in the classroom and inspiring the next generation of great artists!”

  • Beware of the Big, Bad Bully!

    Funded Feb 19, 2012

Thank you again for the wonderful classroom materials you provided for our class! The Nooks were something that most of the students had never seen before. Once I showed them how I can add books to it they were excited to start exploring this new piece of technology. Before we got started the students and I decided what would be a fair way for 24 students to share these 2 Nooks. Having them take ownership in the decision making process would help promote fairness between all of the students. With our system in place I noticed an increase in motivation from many students to practice their fluency skills. This additional practice has given struggling readers a boost in confidence. The stronger readers are challenging themselves with chapter books and more difficult text. Thank you for providing a classroom community that the students can be proud of and instilling a sense of accomplishment within all students. We are definitely on our way to a bully-free zone! ”

  • Teaching with Technology

    Funded Dec 17, 2011

The students were very excited to see the new materials arrive and even more excited to start using everything. The ipod and speakers are used in the classroom for a variety of activities. Wether the students are completing an independent writing assignment, being introduced to a new Math skill or tossing bean bags the ipod and CDs make learning more fun and engaging for everyone! The "Swing & Catch Cups" and "Balancing Balls" game are a hit when we go outdoors. I even bought another set of these materials because they love it so much. Both of those games have really improved their hand/eye coordination. The "Active Play Box" has introduced them to many new games. Not only have they learned new games but they are learning the value of teamwork, cooperation and good sportsmanship. The students and I truly appreciate all of the generosity that you have shown towards us. Thank you again for supporting our classroom project! ”

  • iLearn With An iPad

    Funded Jan 28, 2012

We absolutely LOVE our new ipad! The students have been taking turns using it and it's very exciting. Right now the ipad is used as a reward for students that finish work early, have a great behavior chart, follow directions or show that they are responsible, dependable and trustworthy. I have selected apps that focus on all of the standards and the students can choose from there. A class favorite right now is a Science app that focuses on the life cycle of a butterfly. The students can observe this process starting from when the butterfly was an egg all the way until they release the butterfly into nature. They also enjoy the Math apps that focus on addition or multiplication and this continuous practice has improved their Math skills. Thanks again for this wonderful technology! The students and I truly appreciate your kindness towards our class.”

  • Exploring Life Science

    Funded Jan 30, 2012

The students and I would like to thank you again for your generosity towards our classroom project. The Life Science materials have been a wonderful addition to my Science unit for Spring. The students and I have started discussing the life cycle of plants. The life cycle books are a great way to introduce new concepts and reinforce ideas they are familiar with already. We are using the greenhouses to observe how a seed grows and evolves over time. The greenhouses allow the students the opportunity to monitor the process and record their observations. These wonderful, hands-on materials would not have been made possible without you kindness.
