Based on my Intellectual Disabled 3-5th grade students, they are currently at a lower grade level in both reading and math skills as per I-ready scores. These books, classroom supplies and resources will truly be a blessing for these kids and for myself, because I will be able to implement more creative/innovative lessons around these classroom supplies, books and resources. When we are not on break time, we are fully occupied by starting our day with classroom delivered breakfast, morning greetings/announcements, sight word/phonics alpha-blocks videos, Reading aloud interactive Story time/ELA vocabulary, writing assignment/prompt, lunchtime, Math lesson/flash cards telling time/Counting Money, Science and/or Social Studies. Lego Emotions will help them develop awareness building characters that display feelings and relate them in real time to themselves, character association. Ear phones are certainly needed because some of these parents are single mom's with three children in Elementary school attempting to make ends meet, working a minimum wage job, while paying the bills. Interactive is the name of their game, they LOVE to be taught as a whole group, in which I strongly focus on this behavior momentum to engage them further. Also, creative thinking book for my detective student that is always investigating what is going on in the classroom is a great resource. For my withdrawn/shy child in the spectrum of ASD, colorful covers white writing board on her desk would be ideal, so that when she writes, she can raise it up to show what she wrote. She needs to practice her hand writing, letters, numbers and more. Most of my students have assisted therapies such as speech, occupational applied behavioral analysis and physical.
All these R-E-S-O-U-R-C-E-S, B-O-O-K-S and S-U-P-P-L-I-E-S are K-E-Y to upgrade their success into middle school. Two students will be going to Homestead IND middle school program AUG2021.
