Healthy to be Educated

Once again, thank you so much for your donation to help my students! My school was so excited to see this project funded so quickly, especially for these items that are so essential for school nursing!

The bandages are being used daily for cuts and scrapes, and it is wonderful for my students to have and see bandages that match their skin tone. The otoscope is being used for hearing screenings and has already seen tons of earwax! The pulse oximeter has been especially helpful for my asthmatic students, and during a time where a respiratory illness such as COVID is still so prominent, it is reassuring to be able to check my student's oxygen levels. The pill counter has been used for counting all of the controlled medications, and I no longer have to worry about contaminating the pills when I have a clean tray to use. The poster is hung up in the clinic where nonverbal or non-English speaking students use it to indicate their problems--truly I do not know how we survived in our EL prevalent school without this incredibly important communication tool!

As this year continues and we bring back our students on an increased in-person schedule, I am sure we will find other things we need, but for right now, it seems like we are set to at least start our students on a healthy, full-time year!”
