Creating a proactive learning environment for children with special needs is an essential part of special education. Students need a safe space to regulate their nervous system and calm down in a Developmental Need Special Classroom program. Research shows that sensory toys and gross motor balancing exercises will support this development. It will create a safe classroom corner where students can regulate their emotions, moods, and behavior. Safe space is part of social-emotional learning. It is the process through which students understand and manage their emotions, achieve goals, maintain positive relationships, and make responsible choices. By using this area in a classroom, students practice self-regulation along with various visual support systems.
