The materials requested in this project will go towards setting up my preschool classroom to be a safe, welcoming space built for learning this year and for years to come. Remote students and families have been incredibly flexible, using sheet protectors or other materials as whiteboards and finding different items at home to use as blocks. As students are returning, our classroom lacks hands-on materials like 3D shape blocks and whiteboards that can be easily sanitized. Everything was intentionally chosen to help us achieve socially distanced success, however, they are all materials that can and will be used for years to come. Preschool is a students' first introduction to the wonders of school and learning, and our littlest minds will grow tremendously with these hands-on materials. I believe that our littlest learners deserve equal access to these materials and by providing each student with a real, durable whiteboard, it would communicate to families that their little one's learning is valuable. Having choice of how to do their work--standing, seated at their desk or on the floor with their wobble cushion--will help students feel comfortable, independent and able to take ownership of their learning. The floor dots will also allow them to move safely throughout their routines, fully understanding the expectations of where to stand in line or at recess. These tools will help students immensely as they navigate the physical classroom space with confidence.
