As a high school school based speech-language pathologist, it is my responsibility to ensure that students are receiving appropriate therapy and supports to aid in anything that impacts their communication and language. As a generalist in my field, I work with students with a variety of students, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorders, language disorders (impacting reading, writing, and speaking), speech disorders (difficulty with creating speech sounds that can impact literacy), fluency disorders (e.g. stuttering), voice disorders (e.g. vocal nodules), dual language learning, ect. The most important part of speech therapy, and why I am requesting these donations, is to individualize therapies and therapy materials based on the unique needs of each of my students. The materials I am requesting will ensure that I can provide quality therapy to any student that walks into my therapy room. Many of these items will also aid in the creation of materials for students who come from a diverse background in which ready made materials are not available. For example, several of my students speak languages such as Burmese in which traditional English books are not appropriate when assessing current language abilities.
