We often ask what students read over the summer, invoking shame and guilt on students who do not have any books at home. By creating a summer book lending library, we are ensuring that all students have access to books over the summer and all students can have books they will fall in love with. We know that a summer learning gap often occurs with students from poor households. The gap is decreased when students have engaging books at home in the summer months. This project will ensure all students have the same access to quality materials, even in the summer months.
