School Theater, the Music Makers, the Dreamers of Dreams
Funded Feb 27, 2024Thank you so much for funding our project. We hope that you know how your support has helped us. Teaching dramatic arts in a NYC public school for students with special needs is a challenging and rewarding experience. My students deserve to be a part of all of the wonderful things that other students are experiencing. Thank you for helping us to make this happen.
Our students are performing Willy Wonka Jr. in June. They have been working so hard for months, rehearsing, creating props and backdrops and creating costumes. The show is a creative outlet that my students don't often get. The items that were funded through this project helped us to create our fun costumes for our 45 Oompa Loompas. We definitely would not have had the ability to have the whole cast in costume without your support. We also were able to buy 2 stage blocks which we will be using for staging and height during all of our future shows.
Not only are our students and staff grateful for the items that were funded but by the experience that our students are getting from the items. Students used the costume parts to dye shirts and put together the entire look. Other students, our back of the house crew learned how to put together the stage blocks. For most of them it was the first time using tools. They did a great job and were very proud of themselves.
We are so excited for our upcoming performance. We are so very thankful for believing in us and your support.”

Ms. Dawn
