  • Starter Kits for Success in School

    Funded Mar 6, 2025

The new starter kits are amazing! We had 2 new students arrive to our school and country this week and they were so excited to get something that was "theirs". Coming to a new school can be scary especially is no one speaks your language or understands you. These welcome kits put smiles on their faces. Their bows and smiles showed their gratitude. They will now be able to go to class with proper writing utensils and places to put their work. Thank you all for making this possible! I cannot wait for the next new student to come so we can give them the same successful supplies.”

  • Chicks in the City

    Funded Nov 13, 2024

I am so excited to bring the farm to the city. Thank you so much for all of you who made this possible! I just know my students are going to love incorporating these little chicks into our unit. I hope all of you have a thankful Thanksgiving and I am truly grateful for all of you who helped my students and myself out.”

  • Pollinators and Produce for ENL students!

    Funded Apr 22, 2024

This project has brought so much joy to myself and my students. They got to choose a caterpillar, watch it form a chrysalis, and then actually release them outside. I loved watching the students come into the classroom each day and hurry to the back of the room to check on their insects. They took this very personally with the growing of their insects and actually did not want to let them go. It was very sweet. It was also nice to have them experience this hand on and not just through reading in a book. They also asked if we could do this again next year if they have me for a teacher.

They hydroponic station was also a hit. We grew lettuce and beans. The students were amazed at how the plants could grow like a "normal" plant would without having soil. We are now experimenting with growing flowers that the students will be taking home.

Thank you so much for showing my students the love and support to allow them to do these amazing things in my classroom. From the bottom of my heart thank you to each and every one of you who made this possible.”

  • Hygiene = Happiness

    Funded Feb 29, 2024

This week my co-worker and I put together our hygiene station right by the door so students can stop in at any point to get anything they need. So many students have said that they appreciate us having things out for them that they need or don't get at home. Each student who has used the station has personally thanked either my co-worker or myself. It makes us so happy that students feel comfortable to take things like pads, tampons, deodorant, etc. and know that no questions will be asked.

When I opened the box and showed students what was set up for them, they were so excited. You could tell the interest they had for it just by the looks on their faces. Once I said that these items were for them to take at any time they were like, "We can take those? Like for free?" The appreciation was so genuine and heart-warming.

This project has fostered positive student relationships and trust in adults and considering some students have problems creating or keeping these types of relationships outside of school, it has made such an impact. Thank you so much for everyone that has helped to fund our hygiene station and donated enough materials for us to keep replenishing it for months.”

  • Talking With a Translator

    Funded Dec 14, 2023

There are a few of my students who just moved to America within the past few months and they do not know any English. Having them placed in high school classes has proven to be beyond challenging. You all have helped them out by giving them the power of voice. These translators allow them scan any sentence in English, where it then translates it into their home language, and also reads the sentence out loud.

Another added bonus that the kids love is the part where they can hold the button on the translator to record what the teacher is saying and then it dictates what the teacher said in their own language. This device also works the other way. They can talk into the microphone in their home language and then it will translate their words into English. You have all helped to break the language barrier between my students who do not speak any English and those of us who only speak English.

I am so thankful for all of the donors who helped because it has helped my students feel not only more comfortable, but that someone cares to help them learn. They smile when they hear their language because it is familiar to them as opposed to sitting in class all day understanding nothing. I thank you so much for giving my students this chance to be successful.”

  • Materials Where Kids Feel VALUED, SAFE, and THOUGHT OF!

    Funded Dec 13, 2023

This project getting funded has made a significant impact on my students. When the boxes arrived, I waited to open them until my students could be there. They were so excited that these "gifts" were for them! The students saw how great the printer was when I made colored cards for them in their language to help them communicate with other teachers. The teachers and students can carry these to help form a communication bond since some of the students speak little to no English. The color printer has done wonders with modifying and scaffolding their work. I can now color code their work with English and their native language. The bin organizer and the locking cabinet is in a place where they can use it. We keep all their supplies in this cabinet that is secure so they know their stuff will not get stolen or broken and anything that is in the cabinet is theirs. These are where all their learning games, extra supplies, and translator devices are kept. Students can also lock up their cell phones in there as well, since some newcomers have trouble learning to open their lockers. My kids were so sweet because they didn't understand we had to build it so it was neat to show them the directions and how we have to put it all together. Each of my students has their own color bin that they get when they come into class and they love they have something of their own. Thank you all so much!”

  • Warm Hands

    Funded Dec 9, 2023

When I found out that this project was funded, I was so touched at how fast it happened. As a teacher, we are with these kids more during the day than they are with their own families. My kids know I'm their "at school mom". The staff and I at my school used our breaks to put together the gloves with a candy cane and a Merry Christmas note. So many of our students come from low-income areas. They take multiple buses to make it to school or they walk in the snow and rain to be able to learn. They do not always have the warm resources others have so when we were deciding what to do for Christmas, we thought what better way than to give them something we know each of them will use.

After school yesterday each student was given a pair of gloves as a gift for Christmas. I wish each of you could have been there in person to see their faces. Some told us they have never gotten a gift before, some gave us a huge hug, and almost all of them ripped off the tag and put them on. They were even more impressed they had the touch screen fingers since they are obsessed with their phones. The genuine thank you, smiles and hugs touched all of our hearts! Thank you for making this possible!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Long
