Technology for English Language Learners
Funded Sep 29, 2022On behalf of my students and I, I would like to thank you for your generous donation of the computer to our classroom. My students are English language learners, and this computer has been helpful with allowing them to use software we purchase for their language development.
Technology is integrated in our instruction and most of the student resources are digital. It is helpful to have access to resources such as digital libraries, watch interactive videos, complete assessments, access virtual classrooms and have students collaborate with their peers.
One of the most exciting things for my students using the new product was taking a virtual trip to the zoo, using the computer.
Many of my students enjoy the use of the computer especially for quick access to resources in their home language as well as, helping them to translate information they may not understand. We have a lot of work to do, and your generous donation helps us get that important work done.”

Funded Dec 24, 2021Getting students excited to read is not always an easy task, it requires keeping students engaged. Most of my students are new to the United States and did not have quick access to a classroom library.
My students have more of a desire to quickly go to the colorful classroom library. I shared their excitement when they noticed the new containers to hold books in our class library. It captivated their attention and grew their desire to want to read more.
My next step is to fill my library with more culturally responsive texts where
students can see themselves and read books that will allow them to explore and learn about new topics. Your generosity to support the students in my school community is greatly appreciated.”

Keep Calm & Wash Your Hands!
Funded Oct 19, 2021This year has been truly a challenging but rewarding one. My students and I along with my colleagues had the benefit of the donations that we were blessed with. Resuming school in person was a challenge and one of the many concerns was keeping our classrooms clean and ensuring that students remained safe and could remain in school without becoming ill. Keeping their hands clean was an integral part of the process. Most of the students were happy they didn't have leave my classroom to wash their hands since there was soap available in the classroom.
All my students were excited, I often had to remind them that we had to settle down for class before washing their hands. I often heard, "I forgot to wash my hands in the bathroom," just so they would have the opportunity to use the soap to wash their hands again. I didn't mind since I was sure they were remaining germ free and keeping their hands clean.
We are so grateful for these resources and the opportunity to continue our teaching and learning in an environment where students can stay safe and clean. We want to continue learning in a germ free classroom where students can continue to develop healthy habits that will be valuable not only in their classrooms, but in their daily lives. Thank you for your contribution to this effort.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Royes
