As a 2nd year English teacher, I currently have a small classroom library that I am hoping to expand. Many of my books, while great from a literary standpoint, do not reflect the diversity that we see in our world today. The Project Lit Community has helped me to identify books that would make my classroom library more inclusive and that would allow my students to learn more about people who are different from them. I want to foster a love of reading in my students while teaching them empathy.
