Early childhood students learn through active, hands-on play. Interacting with a variety of materials allows them to grasp social-emotional concepts like empathy, cooperation, and resilience. This supply list will give my students access to dolls that look like them, as well as crafting supplies and story telling props that they can use to deepen their understanding of how to recognize and regulate their emotions. I'm requesting funding for a variety of materials that will allow me to differentiate my lessons and activities to reach all the individual learning styles in my classroom. Some students enjoy pretend play with dolls, others like hands-on crafts, and others enjoy listening to and discussing stories. The dolls will give students opportunities to learn through dramatic play. The art supplies will give students a chance to develop their fine motor skills and use their creativity as we do projects related to social-emotional learning. The teaching easel and felt story-telling pieces will make interactive read alouds more engaging and effective.
