Seeing yourself on the pages of a book, knowing that there are people that look like you, and feeling represented are all possible for my students through this culturally diverse library. Diversity shouldn't be contained by one month of the year. I want my students to have access all year round to this rich library . "When books don't serve as mirrors to children, they learn a powerful lesson about how the are devalued in society." Dr. Rudine Sims Bishop states in the Multicultural Literacy article "Mirrors, Windows, and Slider Glass Doors."
