Coding will offer students the opportunity to "failing forward", develop perseverance and support a growth mindset. The target would be to offer a summer camp to teach my students to think in a fun and engaging way. Coding will expose them to higher-order thinking skills. By giving my students the experience of coding, they will problem-solve in a different way. Not only will it be an introduction and expansion to computation and algebraic thinking, but it will also be an exposure to the engineering design process. This would be the learning of a lifetime and hopefully engage them in the interest of a STEM career. The Wedo 2.0 robots will be used in conjunction with the Wedo 2.0 app for iPad or Chrome. Students will first experience building and creating patterns using lego bricks. Next, they will spend some time creating structures with lego's physical brick set. Then it will be followed by the following of diagrams to build a certain robot. After the robot is built students will explore the Wedo 2.0 app to experience coding. Once the coding begins on their devices student will utilize the codes they have written to control the physical robots.
