Flexible seating allows students to make choices and truly take control of their learning. Currently my classroom has 3 ball chairs, foam pads, and clipboards to was flexible seating options. The ball chairs are used at student desks who are unable to work using a student chair. The clipboards and foam pads are used during independent work times. Students can they choose a socially distanced location in the classroom that works best for them. Seating options have allowed students to be successful, in-person learners during the Covid pandemic. After restrictions are lifted, flexible seating options will continue to allow students comfortable seating options to work at desks, around the room, and in groups. The flexible seating options that I have chosen will help my students by giving them additional options that allow them to be successful learners. The surf portable lap desk will let students work on the floor around the room, while still having a solid surface to work on. The wobble stools are adjustable and will allow students to sit at desks, our lower small group table, as well as, other tables around the room. These are easy to move and allow students to get their wiggles out. The weighted ball chairs are already in use in my classroom. With the amazing success I have witnessed, I would like to add more to my room. They can be used at desks and tables around my room. Flexible seating options allow students to take a leading role in their education through choice. In funding this project, you would help create a safe, comfortable learning environment for 1st graders for years to come.
